MJ Studios is all about relationships. Whether you are a professional musician, aspiring musician, or a fan of music wanting to learn how to play, MJ Studios wants to help you build a positive, lifelong relationship with music.

We recognize all students as individuals who have unique musical goals, genre preferences, learning styles, personalities and influences. All of these factors are taken into consideration when structuring our lesson time. Different goals require different strategies, and for this reason, lessons at MJ Studios are as unique as its students. There are so many beautiful styles of music and even more ways to learn how to play. Let MJ studios help you find your sound. 

Relationships in music that matter:

• Teacher-Student relationship

  • MJ Studios values creating a positive teacher-student relationship, striving to make students feel safe, supported and encouraged at all times. This relationship fosters musical development, and makes both learning and practicing an uplifting experience. 

• Relationship with practicing

  • Students are highly encouraged to learn the type of music that they are passionate about. Each musical genre requires a unique set of skills and knowledge. By structuring technical exercises, theory, and song selection according to the student’s interests, MJ Studios aims to make practicing enjoyable. We do not force students to practice, but help them want to practice. 

• Relationship with learning

  • Many instructors have ONE teaching style. Though one style can be helpful to some students, others will struggle and possibly convince themselves that they are: not talented enough, not smart enough, or simply not musical. MJ Studios individualizes both what we teach, and how we teach it to maximize each student’s learning potential and love for learning.

• Relationship with yourself

  • Many musicians and aspiring musicians alike struggle with performance anxiety, negative self talk, and unrealistic expectations of themselves.  Though we always encourage students to work hard and try their best, MJ Studios focuses on fostering positivity in lessons, practicing and performance. Having a positive, supportive attitude towards yourself is paramount to creating your best sound.
